Our story
It started on a Friday evening, with two hungry kids in the back seat.
My family had been wanting to try a restaurant near us for weeks. It didn't take reservations, so before we left the house, we called ahead to get a sense of the wait. Nobody picked up. We figured we'd just drive over and see for ourselves.
We circled the block a few times looking for parking. By the time we finally walked up to the host stand, my kids were already tired and restless from the drive, and the hostess told us the wait was over an hour and a half.
An hour and a half might as well have been forever. My kids were hungry and getting anxious, the kind of anxious that doesn't wait quietly. We turned around, walked back to the car, and drove to another restaurant close by. Same answer there too. Dinner that night ended up being fast food, not the meal we'd been looking forward to all week.
That's the moment this whole idea came from. Photos are old. Reviews are older. Even a "busy right now" estimate on a map is just a guess built from other people's phones weeks ago, not the reality of this exact evening. None of it tells you what you actually need to know five minutes before you have to decide whether to load the kids into the car.
OnsitePeek is built around one simple idea. A real person, already there, can tell you more in thirty seconds than a hundred old reviews ever could. Open the app, search anywhere, and if someone's live, ask them to show you. Not a photo from last month. An actual person, holding up their phone, right now, telling you the truth before you've even left the house.
And the person showing you gets something out of it too, a few dollars for thirty seconds of their time, verified to actually be there, paid the moment the call ends.
I didn't want to build another app that guesses. I wanted to build the one honest source in your pocket, so no other family has to circle the block, get to the door, and turn back around with hungry kids and an empty night ahead of them.
Look before you leave.
If you've ever shown up somewhere only to wish you'd known first, this is for you.
