Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

This is a starting template, not finished legal advice. Privacy law varies by state and country (California's CCPA and Europe's GDPR are the two most likely to apply to you), so have this reviewed before real users' data is involved, especially since this app collects precise location data.

This Privacy Policy explains what information OnsitePeek collects, why, and how it's used. By using OnsitePeek, you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

WhatWhy
Email address, hashed passwordTo create and secure your account
Precise GPS location (Scouts, at the moment of going live)To verify a Scout is actually at the place they claim to represent
Approximate or precise location (Requesters, optional)To show nearby places first in search; you can decline and search still works
Payment informationProcessed directly by Stripe; OnsitePeek does not store your full card details
Video call participationTo connect a live peek between two users; calls are not recorded or stored
Basic device and usage dataTo keep the Service secure and working correctly

2. Location data specifically

If you use OnsitePeek as a Scout, we collect your device's precise GPS location at the moment you choose to "go live." This is used only to verify you're within range of the place you're representing. We do not track or store your location at any other time, and Requesters never see a Scout's exact GPS coordinates, only whether they're verified as live at a place.

If you use OnsitePeek as a Requester, we ask for your location once, to bias search results toward what's actually nearby. If you decline, or your browser doesn't share precise location, we fall back to a coarser, approximate location based on your internet connection instead. Either way, this is used only to influence what search shows you, not stored or tracked continuously, and never shown to Scouts.

3. How we share information

We share information only as needed to run the Service:

4. Data retention

We retain account information for as long as your account is active. Location data used for a single "go live" verification is not retained beyond what's needed to complete that verification. [Confirm and adjust this once you decide your actual retention policy.]

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and to object to certain uses of it. To exercise these rights, contact us at [your contact email]. California residents have specific rights under the CCPA; residents of the EU/UK have specific rights under the GDPR, both of which we honor for applicable users.

6. Children's privacy

OnsitePeek is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

7. Security

Passwords are never stored in plain text, they're hashed using industry-standard methods. All connections to OnsitePeek are encrypted (https). No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security of your information.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.

9. Contact
